CFP: 2025 RWES Symposium on Graduate Students Works in Progress

The Ralph Waldo Emerson Society welcomes graduate students at all levels and in all fields of study to present their works in progress. The works can be a dissertation, thesis, journal article, term paper, or other creative academic work related to Emerson or transcendentalism broadly conceived. Each participant will have approximately 10 minutes to present their work, which will be followed by an open discussion. Presentations are welcome to share outline sketches containing rough ideas, full drafts, portions of works, or proposals for future projects. This is a great opportunity to informally discuss your current projects with professionals and peers in your field and to learn about the current projects of others.

Submission Process

  • Submit an abstract of your proposed presentation (maximum of 500 words) with title.
  • Indicate your name, graduate student status (MA, PhD, ABD), program, and school affiliation.
  • Send to Nicholas Guardiano, Vice President of Ralph Waldo Emerson Society, at nguardia@siu.edu.
  • Deadline for submission: Monday, March 10th

Symposium Date: Sunday, April 13th
