Dr. Robert Habich is the recipient of this year’s RWES Distinguished Achievement Award. Each year the Society presents the award to an outstanding scholar and leader in Emerson studies. Bob is a professor at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana.
Professor Habich receives his Award from RWES President Sue Dunston at the ALA conference, May 24.
He is a past president of the RWE Society, as well as a past secretary/treasurer and a former editor of the Emerson Society Papers. Bob is the author most recently of Building Their Own Waldos: Emerson’s Early Biographers and the Politics of Genre (University of Iowa Press, 2011), and he has published three other books and numerous articles about Emerson, American Romanticism and Transcendentalism, and biography.
